UPDATE: At 3:03 you will want to select "Pin" (formerally "Ground"). "Ground to Parent" is a new concept introduced in the latest Fusion release.
There's a typo in the description...
Thanks! Fixed it.
I'm not sure what I've done but my embossed lines at the end of the sketch are wavy? It's not really an issue because it actually looks quite cool, but strange.
Please see the pinned comment about the Fusion update that affected this 😎
I Made the fillets 0,4 and saved it as a fbx file and made a 3d printed it on my ender v3 neo turned out great:D
I had a little trouble before I realized that pin should be used instead of ground to parent, otherwise another great lesson.
Thanks for the note! I've added a pin comment to call this out. 'Ground to Parent' was released in the May Fusion update. At 3:03 you will want to select "Pin" (formerally "Ground").
Thank you so much, Usually I have no problem converting a mesh from step file. But what I'm working on is more complex/weird geometry. I was missing one step that was critical to correctly converting to a solid body. Again thank you. Extremely good tutorial! Adding to playlist❤🎉
Great. Now I'm hungry!
Chocolate 3D printer? 😁
I love how for every video I go along in this series, the number of views drops. Just shows how many people are unable/unwilling to see something through.
True. You got this!! 💪🏼
4:50 this is definitely a me problem but do you explain the various features of the hole tab later on? because i dont know what exactly i am setting when i select countersink, tapped, offset, etc. Do let me know if i should do the research on my own
Good question. Those are not explained in much detail in this course. 🙂
@@ProductDesignOnline no worries, I'll search them up on my own before proceeding
i cant select the origin point for some reason, the select degree thingy gets in my way
Hmm. Any chance you could link to a screenshot? You could also try reorienting the sketch with the ViewCube in the upper right corner to see if that moves the degree input out of the way.
Oof 1.49. What material are you printing this in?
PLA
@@ProductDesignOnline Should be interesting. I'd be tempted to try PVB to smooth my lair lines after. Nice to see quick simple tutorials btw, great for people starting modeling in fusion. I was an idiot before shell. I would manually sketch surfaces and remove material with the extrude command.
A (cheap) SLA printer would be ideal if you want to make a bunch of these. :) Glad you're enjoying them!
@@ProductDesignOnline I have an old mars 3. I just have so many more FDM printers that I forget resin exists more than I should.
flip option is missing for me in emboss
Thanks for calling this out. I'm not sure why, will have to investigate :)
Amazing tutorial sir
4:55 no matter what I do I'm unable to make the cylinder for the threaded part. everything I'm doing matches the steps exactly, but the diameter is in red and I'm not able to click ok.
The 'red' sounds like the Extrude command defaulted to a 'cut' operation. Double-check that the operation in the Extrude dialog is set to "New Body". Let me know if that works! :)
@@ProductDesignOnline thanks for the quick reply! I definitely confirmed that it was set to New Body. I eventually just tried sketching a circle and extruding it and that worked. The first and the final cylinder made in the video had no issues, so I'm not sure why I wasn't able to do it with the middle one! At some point I'll try again with a fresh file.
@@cassiakuhn8740glad you were able to work past it! If you do run into it again, please capture a screen recording or screenshots if you can. Happy learning! 🙂

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
You are so welcome!
at 4:43 he can just get the center of the sketch. HOW mine didn't allow that I cannot figure out how that just came up.
Are you referring to the creating of the mirror? Make sure you project the geometry before trying to sketch that centerline. Otherwise, it won't have an edge to reference and won't find the midpoint constraint.
What about blender? Will that work for a 3d software?
Depends on what you intend to make. In general, parts getting milled tend to be better suited for a parametric modeling program. However, if you plan to make characters or other more organic designs then Blender would be great!
no matter what I do, I am not getting the flags at 5:40 with version Fusion 2.0.19440 x86_64 😞
Can you share a link to a screenshot or screen recording?
@@ProductDesignOnline for some reason i am unable to post the link. Trying to post a basic comment now, if success full I will try to proceed to post the link.
it seems it get's censored for some reason. this is the video code, please insert it into the URL manually. Thank you in advance! SHHi2zSqF1Y
I can’t find the direction feature in the free version.
Use 'Axes' which is the same thing. They recently renamed it.
2:40 I did not understand the significance of the black line. can you explain what the difference is between the black line and blue line. Or what would happen if the sketch was blue instead of black?
Blue (undefined) lines can still be moved around which means that they may get moved unwillingly when you change dimensions. The goal is to fully define sketches so you can update things predictably. This is covered specifically on Day 16, in greater detail.
@@ProductDesignOnline thankyou so much
@@harshilpanchal2229 You're welcome! Happy learning :)
Awesome knurling video. 1st time I’ve tried this. Very fun
Thanks a lot for all your videos which are very helpful for me. I have only one question what does project command do? why do we need it?
I discuss it more throughout the course. In short, it helps you reference existing geometry, making the model adaptable should you change dimensions later.
But really.. f.. adobe and their insane prices.
What does Adobe have to do with this?
@@ProductDesignOnline I guess because it starts with the letter A just like Autodesk does. Some people can't discern the difference.
do I need to buy fusion team to access my online files?
No, cloud storage is included with all licenses, including the free Personal Use license.
@@ProductDesignOnline I can't create any folders or move existing folders is this normal?
@@pogarda001 No, something doesn't sound right. It sounds like a permissions or account issue. Does your account say in trial mode or 'expired' ?
@@ProductDesignOnline It looks like it took longer than 24 hours to switch from trial to non-commercial user. It’s working in the browser and the program now. I have another question. I’m using SolidWorks at work, and I can get SolidWorks to calculate the forces required for fixing bolts based on applied loads. Do you know if Fusion can do this? I sent an email to Autodesk support, but their reply was very vague and told me to find the answer on Google. Funny or not, I was hoping to buy a license, but if this is the level of support you get from Autodesk, I’m happy to stay on non-commercial software
At 4:30 you say 10 faces. I had an error towards the end so I went back to see what was wrong and I see that it only thickened 7 faces even though I had the chain selection checked. And on the browser it shows Body1 (10) so I am not sure what the issue is.
I think I figured it out although I cannot do the offset
This one is hard to say without seeing your file. Can you export your Fusion file and share a link to it?
@@ProductDesignOnline I figured it out! At least I think lol I didn't have any errors in the end but it took me a while. Thanks!
After 4yrs I still do not see a clearance option in the thread command? Will they ever make one?
I don't believe so, unfortunately. There are some add-ins that helps with 3D printed threads though.
Hi! Thanks for video! It’s amazing! Please, I scan my smartphone, it’s possible use this mesh to use for negative, to draw a case?? Thanks
It will depend on the mesh file, but if it's fully closed (no holes or errors) then it can be used!
@@ProductDesignOnline thanks for reply!!!!!

Clearly the best fusion video out here. Clear, concise, fast. I understood way much here than anywhere. Thanks a lot!
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words. Glad to hear you learned a lot :)

The most challenging one and it took me like 5 hours. Sadly I did a random iPhone that's not for my phone.
Keep going - you got this! :)
this helped me a LOT ! thank you Mr. :)
That's really useful! Thanks.
You say that with the collinear constraint, order matters, but you don't explain how. Also, is there still no way to set midpoint constraints in a rational manner? It just chooses which point goes to the midpoint of which line. I always assume that the order should define which is the midpoint-er and which the midpoint-ee, but it seems to be arbitrary, and fiendishly difficult to fix when the program guesses wrong.
Collinear constraint selection order: The first line or edge you select will remain fixed in its current position. The second line or edge will be adjusted to become collinear with the first selection. This means that the second line will move and rotate to align perfectly with the first line. For Midpoint, you (typically) first select the point or entity that you want to move. The second selection is the line or entity that will have the point constrained to its midpoint. The surrounding constraints can 'override' some of this behavior, which is why at times it can feel like it's behaving differently.

Nice lesson
I tried to use this to help me as it has the splitting the file using a body to make a registration cut. While this video helped me a lot, it falls short as changes to Fusion seem to have taken the process in a different direction than the tutorial. It’s been four years so no big surprise. It would be nice to have you update this video to the current fusion. It sure would be helpful as this video was probably perfect for when you published it.
Thanks for the feedback! These workflows all still work, they've just moved many of the things around. I'll have to make a new video :)
at 11:48 I cant extrude the circle and the offset. It just selects the enirety of the inner box and not my sketch.
nvm i figured it out!
Very nice job....was easily able to follow the tutorial and ended up with a usable custom stamp that I combined with a vise to create a leather stamp...but the handle makes it easy to test with ink first to make sure the stamp is exactly as I like. Very rare to complete a tutorial and get a working part as a bonus!
Glad to hear that! 👏🏼😎
Nicely done
Okay i finally got the hang on project/intersect. Thanks Fusionmaster :)
Glad to hear that! Thanks for watching :)
Great video tutorial, thank you! :) Am a total noob, I couldnt do any fancy geometry fix for the lid, so I just tighten the tolerances from 0,25mm to 0,05mm and the lid is now holding well :) Subscribing and hoping to learn more :) <3
I’m having an issue where the whole bottle “top” is selected neck included and I can not fillet or shell the bottle
Double check two things. First, make sure your very top line has a horizontal constrain in the sketch. If that top surface is not planar (flat) then you won't be able to select it for Shell. Second, you may need to adjust the top spline handle in the sketch, making the curve of the spline larger. If it's too 'sharp' then it won't have enough area for the Shell to follow the curve.
@@ProductDesignOnlineI don’t remember how I got it to work but it went through. Will make it again soon just so I know it. You also talked about the error message, but not how to fix that. I had that issue at first though after doing it a second time it resolved itself.
@@Nmyoutube821 See 11:37, "Edit your sketch and adjust the stem of your bottle..."
i followed this exactly up until the point of creating the second component. i do it exactly like you, right click, select new component and instead of just adding another component the dialog pops up for "new component" just like the bolt. tried moving along with the tutorial but as soon as i get to the section view the cross section is not lined up like yours. the tops of the pitch are basically inside one another. any help to fix these issues would be appreciated
nvm, figured it out my own way :D lol
I know this might be a dumb question and if it is then I grant you permission to kindly roast me (nothing too crazy) but do you print the whole box as one single print or do you print each half separately?
not a dumb question. Yes, you print the box as a single print with both lids flat on the build plate.
Well, I tried this "prismatic" mode, it converted my stl wing into a donut... 😞
What was the file/design? Did you try merging or adjusting facegroups at all?
This was a lifesaver! 🎉
@2:14 - when trying to replicate the Equal Constraint step, getting a "Failed to solve. Please try revising dimensions or constraints." Any suggestions?
There is likely another constraint that was automatically applied. Double-check that you don't have any other constraints that would restrict it from making the sides equal in length. If you can share your file, I can take a look.
what an evil video... after i saw the next one i used surface to made pixel 7a and it was so much easier! LOL
